Human Resources Generalist
Continued ongoing workload results in our search for a part-time human resources generalist to work at the Blair County Prison and oversee specific areas of concentration that include labor relations, performance management, recruitment, safety, and preliminary workers’ compensation claims.
Essential duties include drafting annual training plan for Prison employees to comply with Title 37-Chapter 95 and internal policy, monitor employee training completion, escalate incomplete training as necessary; review Prison policy and procedure statements no less frequently than annually to ensure correlation to content within Title 37-Chapter 95, collective bargaining agreements, County of Blair Employee Handbook, and current laws; working with relevant audience to keep job descriptions up to date; coordinating hiring process for nonexempt and exempt positions at facility; ensuring ongoing standards compliance with Title 37-Chapter 95 on issues related to human resources, training, and other topics as directed; conducting or overseeing employee relations- or labor relations-related investigations; investigating complaints as directed; completing research and/or special projects; delivering information and/or training to workforce; and handling or referring employee questions as appropriate.
Qualified applicants will have a bachelor’s degree in business, communications, human resources management, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience with human resources industry; broad knowledge of human resources-related legal requirements, practices, trends; moderate skills with spreadsheet and word processing applications, and Internet navigation; proficient data entry and typing; superior interpersonal relations and communications skills (both verbal and written); working knowledge of relevant employment laws, including ADAAA, EEO, FMLA, FLSA, HIPAA, and PPACA; comfortably confront and work through conflict; attention to detail; and superior organizational and customer service skills.
This is a part-time, nonexempt position not to exceed 999 hours a year; benefits are not provided with that number of hours worked per year. The hire will earn $20.00/hour. EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
